Ashmita first got into writing at the age of 5 when she read "The Owl and The Pussycat", a children's book about an Owl and a Cat who journey together in a boat on a beautiful, moonlit night. So inspired by the wonder and depth of emotion conveyed through the simple words, she knew that she wanted to do the same. Since then she has taken every opportunity to write poems and short stories, and at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 began posting them online via the Instagram account @wordofashy and was happy with the positive responses she received. Due to a busy period in life, she ended up taking a year-long creative break, but has recently begun posting poetry again.
